The queen of Cairo’s bridal couture scene, Yasmine Yeya’s elegant designer wedding dresses are making her Egypt’s many in-demand designer. She talks candidly to Farah Hosny about beauty, bridezillas and putting on just a little dress that is black her own wedding.
Once we head into Yasmine Yeya’s Cairo atelier, certainly one of her unfinished creations – a marriage dress yourself in the making – clings to a mannequin in the center of the space; the ethereal piece features a tight bodice infused with regular bursts of intricate beading that provide solution to a river of chiffon, falling with elegant nonchalance on the flooring, producing ripples of textile. Even yet in its semi-complete state, the dress is stunning and it is the real embodiment of why the designer has ascended to her status once the indisputable queen of bridal couture in Egypt – and perhaps over the area.
